This Wood River placer mine is located right off of highway 75 and just south of Galena Lodge. There isn’t really anything to see at this mine since a placer mine usually is just sifting through sand and rocks. This particular mine is located in a very beautiful valley and is a popular backcountry ski destination. We followed skin tracks. You will need snow shows to walk to this mine.

This mine is located within a quarter mile of highway 75. In the winter, there is a pull out for cars across the road from the creek.
