The Mountain View Group mine is a graphite mine located outside of Stanley. This mine was hard to locate. I tried a few times and it seems like the coordinates are incorrect on the USGS site. I did visit an open pit mining area but it was a little away from the marked area. We also walked directly to the marked area and there are old roads but no evidence of a mine. I’m not 100% sure that I actually located this mine. I saw some very large canine prints near this mine. I assume they are wolves.
Directions
This mine is located on Nip and Tuck road off of Highway 21. You can drive to the gate for the mine and will have to walk the rest of the way in. We also parked earlier on Nip and Tuck and tried to walk via the trail in the forest but only found old roads.
