The Red Elephant Mine is a lead, silver, and copper mine outside of Hailey. There is a very large structure still standing at this mine site. There are also numerous tailing piles and lots of metal and wood artifacts lying around. I saw a snake.
Directions
I approached this mine from Bullion Gulch and hiked over the ridge. I would not recommend this. There was substantial bushwhacking required to reach the mine from the other side. With a high clearance vehicle, you should be able to drive right up to this mine via Red Elephant Gulch road.
