Hoodoo Prospects – Custer County, Idaho

Hoodoo Prospects is a zinc and silver mine located in Custer County. The mine is huge and started operating in 1973 so there is a lot left. There is a block building on the site and tons of wood and metal artifacts. There are large tailing piles visible for quite some distance. There is also a semi-developed hot spring. I located a possible portal but it has since collapsed and been covered. The site is significant and really worth a trip.

Directions

This mine is located outside of Stanley down highway 75 towards Clayton. You can take NFR 666 almost to the mine site. You’ll have to walk about a quarter mile down a trail to the site. The site is visible from the road. The road is in good shape and you may be able to drive a regular car to this site.
